What is a Souq?
A Souq is a open-air marketplace which is commonly found in Arabic countries. Souq's carry a wide arrangement of products from rugs to vegetables.
The Souq is a great place to buy gifts for relatives made by Bahraini's such as hand woven carpets and delicate pillow cases.This road trip to the past is filled with old buildings and pottery shops.Shops include: Pottery,Hand woven baskets and many more. A portion of the Souq has been refurbished to modern day with spice shops filling the small streets with Middle Eastern aromas. A family trip, to soak in the local culture and to purchase some wood carvings and jewellery.
What to wear in the Souq?
To respect the culture of Bahrain it would be best to wear suitable clothes such as:
.A shirt that will cover your shoulders
.Trousers to go down the the knees
.Flip-flops or trainers(trainers-to walk for a long distance)
